Like what bro GabrielC stated, expectations & reality. take for example SWR, like what stories goes, no need to "zhor kang" = work, if you own a pc. Or u r a millionaire if you own one, but logically speaking, his holy highness consecrated 84000 for BKP, Wat Rakang & Wat Ket = unknown numbers. If owning one equates to what the stories told, there will be tons of millionaires in Thailand now.

Those I know who are well off, some do collect phras (high ends). But never wear, just for collection purposes only. If they want to wear, just those normal pieces by reputable monks, tats all. Like those uber rich, who collects supercars as purpose of admiring only

1st u have to study Buddhism, the real teaching & the way of life.

2nd u have to study the early days of purpose of amulets & the cost are free of charge by masters as a form of blessing the fated devotees.

3rd u have to understand 一命二运三风水四积阴德五读书六名七相八敬神九交贵人十养生.

Today media is so advanced and religion become extremist and greed is so over,
u see those amulets price is so high and marketing too tokong & powerfool until u no need work also have money auto come in and girls want you so bad. Hehehe.

I think the perception of wealth and abundance is different amongst us. To me to attain happiness, well-being, good health and comfortable living (no need to worry abt the next meals) is deemed as riches to me. We are more fortunate than alot of ppl. I guess that is the realization I got from wearing amulets and that has made me a far better person than I was previously. Let's stop being upset with each other.... Just an open discussion with varying opinion.

Not Ah Beng lah, perhaps just lack of confidence.

For me, I think Buddhist amulet serves as a reminder of Buddha or Arahant and their teachings. It is indeed by carrying such items will boost confidence of one that has Saddha (Faith). Just like the Bodhi trees in the past where people took it as a symbol of Buddha and pay homage to it. Different people can interpret their own perspective on wearing amulets.

I for one, wear Phra Pidta, and I think Phra Pidta serves as a reminder to talk no evil, see no evil and etc. Big belly can symbolizes we should practice good patience (da du liang) and His legs in meditation posture suggests Concentration and Mindfulness. Everyone interprets differently.
