    So meaning just pick which one that we like and then proceed ahead with the chanting from the monk right?

    Since im totally new to this, what is the exact process flow then?

    But the question here is not about affordability...but suitability to the buyer..like aforementioned where;

    1. Amulet too powerful for the buyer despite the buyer has the intention to buy it hence advised to get a lesser type which could also means cheaper right?

    2. Selected amulet not strong enough for the buyer, hence upgrade to a better ones hence comes in the higher price and of cause this is done due to match the suitability and not to increase profit.

    Or maybe i am wrong in all these and the fact that anyone can choose anything and there actually no need for matching of date of birth or any astrological elements to the amulets.

    So again...what is the right process flow to buy an amulet in the temple? Pray first then get the amulet then back to monk again? or buy first then pray?

    Thx guys.

    i am not very experienced myself but in my opinion,

    1. What kind of amulet you are looking for/saying? from a temple most likely is mainstream amulet. Buddha/deva image amulet. In my opinion all buddha/deva image amulet is suitable for everyone. They are made to bless/protect everyone.

    2. same ans as 1. so i shall skip. BUT if you wear already you find it really not suitable, you could give it to a friend or people who need it more.

    The flow of getting amulet in temple.
    Step 1. pray first 上香 tell whatever buddha/deva/god that you are here to get an amulet & want let your life shun shun li li or whatever career protection you need.
    Step 2. Proceed to counter to see which caught your attention. Ask the counter person what is this buddha/deva if you don't know. they will most likely explain briefly to you.
    Step 3. Take amulet & find monk to bless your amulet. If can, do sangkatan (SANGKATAN : donation of daily necessities/ food or even robe [depends on you] some temple got pre-pack already need ask counter) also la since you at temple already.
    Step 4. You are basically done. Encase the amulet if haven't yet then you can wear already.

    Hope you get the answer you looking for! Jiayou~~

    Bestman99, thank you very much for your process flow explainations. This is the 101 basics step that i am asking about.

    Guess i just need to beware on step 2 as probably the is where the concerns may arise or perhaps the counter person would not even feedback on the choices made.

    Step 3...may i ask how details would the blessings be? just chant? i saw some monks even have writing on it...how deep the bleesing can go? Would it be at this moment that the monk look at me and say no its not suitable for me?

    Understood on the not suitable can give to others but just that if i am travelling from far away to the particular temple just to then give it away it...kinda feel reluctant...

    Step 2. Choices made.. most temple they are nice ah. So they would tell u what it is if you dunno. If they are impatient due to a lot of ppl behind. Is okay. Just get what u like. Get it blessed by monk then take pic post here we help u see what it is ah.

    Step 3. Diff monk chant diff duration. I been to monk which chant v short and some very Long. But usually I take like 30seconds to 10mins max. But if u were to do sangkatan as I mentioned will be longer as u need to pour water into a kind of bowl? Glass? Kind of stuff when they chant and in ur heart need to say that u are sharing the merit with ur parents, past life & this life karmic creditor etc. If monk would to say not suitable then maybe u could choose another one. So far, I never had this issue before.

    Reluctant is one thing. But then again, if you would to give it to someone who would benefit more from it. Aren't you more happy about it? Indirectly you are helping someone and doing good deed

    In Thailand, there are many types of amulets. Ask any collector or wearer over which is the most type of amulets they have on hand, they will tell you that most of their amulets are not Phra somdej, pidta but rather Luang phor master self image that they greatly admire and have faith in.

    Why?
    Most of the local collector said:

    1. They admire the master, believe in his cultivation, wearing master image is equivalent to like receiving protection from master by the side. They also believe master can bring good luck, fortune and protection;

    2. Master image will serve as all rounder function and a master will use different skills to bless his self medal. A master cultivation will also determine his specialisation and which area he is good in. If a master is specialist in consecrating good wealth amulets, then the self image amulet will automatically be blessed with strong bringing wealth function;

    3. A master will blessed his self image amulets with extra cautious, time and effort. No master will wish to see his devotees to wear his self image instead of Buddha and end up with negative results;

    4. There are many miracles upon wearing master self image amulet;

    5. When Thais wear master image, they believe in his cultivation and wearing amulets consecrate by good master will show obvious results. If master is all rounder, then the amulets will serve all rounder function such as protection from danger, safety, wealth and luck;

    6. A master will also require to possess a certain level of skills and cultivation before he is qualify to make his own self image. It's either he has receive a royal fan or greatly respected by many devotees. Not every master can make his own self image.

    In conclusion, one can choose a master self image amulet which he or she greatly respect in their hearts. The important point is to choose an amulet based on master cultivation and not on the look factor.

    Thank you for reading.

    Dear all, I thought of sharing each type of amulet information here slowly one by one. Let me begin with Phra Pikanet as the starting point.

    Pikanet (Ganesha) symbolise fortune, wisdom, authority, health and success. In Thailand, there are many skilful monks who make Phra Pikanet amulets. Devotees who wear them and pray sincerely will gain wisdom and overcome the obstacles in life.

    Phra Pikanet have a total of thirty-two transformations. Some with 3 heads, 4 heads, 6 hands, 8 hands, many hands, green skin, red skin, yellow skin and black skin. One of his right tusk is half broken, at times he would be holding the broken tusk on one of his hands. The half broken tusk mean there is no perfect fate in this world. One has to first gain knowledge, wisdom and make sacrifices in order to attain success. Pikanet is a strong protector in the heaven gate and he will sit on 4 lotus. He is in-charge of surveillance memory and knowledge. There is a bell attached at his trunk to tighten his alertness.

    Pikanet is also seen with many necklaces on his neck which can reach until his stomach for the meaning that he is a vey forgiving god. He has many weapons such as book, lotus, bow arrow, axe, praying beads, shell, disc and etc. The shell can accumulate wealth and fufill devotees wishes. His right hand disc is to clear obstacles and difficulties and lead the devotees to the right path. At the same time,this will help to build a link between him and the devotees.

    Thank you for reading.[IMG]

    I believe each of us went through the stage of searching high and Low, trial & error on the particular type of amulet that is suitable for us. With this reviews, stories and Google it can be an era where plenty of information true or false are mixed together. Information are every where and it is important that we filter out the right and relevant ones.

    At times we fell in love with a premium amulet that we crave for so badly. The cravings grow, we want to own it badly even though it might just end up in our collection box.

    What is market value for amulet? Well, I would say it's define by how much a buyer is willingly to pay for an amulet. There is no value in amulet if there is no buyer willing to tag a sum to pay for the amulet. Years ago I once tag an amulet at high price tag with no intention to sell. The funny thing is this high price tag end up become a measuring instrument for sellers to use and call as market price. Market value in my context is temple price + mark up margin derive to reasonable or is it worth to pay the dollars and cents.

    More expensive more powerful? Not necessary is the case. If one ask any Luang phor on this question, he/she will be replied with "All are the same". Why is that so? Because a great master does not bless extra effort and time just because he is going to put a higher price tag.

    So one might ask why different then? The exclusive limited editions made, the extra ingredients used/add and resale value. Again the rising demand of buyer has result in different product categories which we can see up to at least 5 versions with same mould release this days.

    The locals dealers themselves like to keep the normal version while selling off the premium version to earn as profits for themselves since most of them are doing it as full time career. Just like collectors, there are certain amulets that they won't sell away for money despite that they may own more than 1 piece of the same amulet (generally those they have 3 to 5 pieces in their own collection). They also collect based on reviews, news on papers and experience. The good ones are usually fast taken up by their locals then little left for the overseas market.

    You and most of the members reading here are welcome. Just sharing views, experiences and what I observe.

    Up till to date, there is no scale that can measure the power of an amulet. The power/ effect of the amulets lies in our mind. It's like a master sword man can fight like a pro even given a wooden sword. Say the swordman is like (1) our good deeds we do be it monetary or actions and the sword is like (2) amulet. Both (1) and (2) need to work hand in hand. Amulet can help us but is never a Aladdin lamp. Only (1) & (2) combined will then open up this treasure call Power.

    We also see the greatest master work doesn't stop at one batch. Hence, we can even observe well known master continue to improve and make/enhance the later amulets that they release.

    To be continued ...

    My friend tell me this is fake? My friend tell me this is expensive? My friend said this amulet no power?

    Please note a friend is also human and may not have the right information over an amulet. He/she learn information through word of mouth, Google or his/her own research method. A friend knowledge over an information can be at various levels like newbie, advanced and expert. I believe each of us heard the blind lead the blind theory so no one wish to happen that this situation will happen to his/her. Months ago a friend was trying to sell to his friend a first edition amulets at $XXX whereby market selling price was at $XX++ and easily available. In the end, the person didn't buy after making own effort to find out more. My friend wear this power leh but do note that wearing amulet experience varies accordingly to individual and never the same. Your friend's appearance different from you and our five fingers on left and right hand is never equal in length. Each of us is unique in our own ways.

    My dad once bought a good amulet at a cost savings from $XXXX to $XXX as that shop owner was closing down. His friend told him must be fake one else you won't get such a good deal. I'm glad my dad choose to believe in himself and make the purchase and eventually it turn out to be a genuine piece after we went through several verifications stages years down the road. Those days Google and Internet wasn't popular or even advance and people hear or say things based on their mouth.

    Heeding an advice from a friend is good but he/she can be wrong at providing the wrong information on the amulets. We as buyers will still need to be responsible in doing out own research before purchase. A friend's advice shouldn't be the only way to use to determine on getting an amulet or not.

    Thank you for reading.

    We buy amulets and some times we sell amulets. This noon I thought of putting down some experience to share with the readers here. Just relating it in a general point of view which we might have encountered before. The relationship between buyer and seller for amulets can be simple or complex at times.

    Google and internet is fill with many true and False information at the same time. This days the popularity of bidding/online auctions for amulets is definitely a well hit platform to let all of us even learn much more about amulets, monks, the purpose, materials of the amulets. It is a good thing at first but we notice from time some bad behaviours start to spread like fire. We saw buyers who bid for amulets went missing in action. That does make us wonder why they turn out to be aeroplane buyers. Is it for the fun? For thrill? Or just to create trouble? What is the motive? I guess only the buyer will know in his/her mind. But I personally feel as a buyer if you win a bid, be a responsible person and take up the deal. If half-hearted or no intention to buy the amulet, don't ever bother to win the bid. A dishonest buyer will lose the trust of seller and lose even more good deals in the long run as he/she might be blocked away from seeing any future posts. What I see is the buyer big lost than the seller.

    I once encounter another buyer who want the same amulet as I do and told the shop personnel to reserve for him. Though it's the last piece I was like never mind he can have it then. In the end 1 month passed, this buyer go missing and never bother to answer the phone. I believe it's basic courtesy to let the seller know if you still interested or not. Choosing to walk away like that is very irresponsible and selfish to let someone miss the opportunity to get the amulet in the first place. It's not hard to say a yes or no to seller but rather I see a selfish personality of this buyer.

    Now we also might heard stories about some sellers manipulate the amulet bidding by creating multiple accounts or even get their peers to push up the prices. Only the seller know whether if it is true or not. It's just a matter of time before one is found out for manipulation. Again this amulet market is build based on trust so not to deny that there are black sheep sellers in market too. There are also cases whereby buyers paid the money for amulets but the sellers never deliver or go missing in action too leaving the poor buyer never receive the amulet. It's also important for sellers to learn information about amulets as I do see posts with incorrect information as buyers trust that sellers are the product experts. In the old days, I also heard that seller X went into many amulet shop XYZ and take photo of the amulet. Then seller X post the amulet photo online and claim to be their own to sell the amulets without seeking permission or purchase from shopkeeper XYZ. There also minority of sellers who will take photos from other sellers and pass by selling as their own with no ready stocks on hand.

    The buying and selling relationship which I observe through years and experience. Hope this post below will help to make buying experience more pleasant.

    1) It's human nature for buyers to ask sellers for discounts/whether amulet price is negotiable. Some sellers will give while some don't as they are not obligated to do so in the first place. I myself once encounter an amulet deal which I didn't ask for discount so in the end, seller provide free postage plus a free amulet when I receive the parcel. Another time another seller automatically give some form of discount to me though I didn't ask for: What I'm saying here is we never know what additional bonus that we may receive when we give without expectation.:cool-onion-head-emoticon:

    2) When reserve amulets, please take up the deal. Imagine if you are the seller who incur this time and opportunity lost because a buyer fly aeroplane or fail to deliver. This will make the relationship sour and buyer may just lose this trust and opportunity for good. Meaning seller may banned to have this type of repeated buyer and might not introduce any special/limited version. Please remember it's out of good faith that seller practice reservation doesn't mean seller owe this buyer anything.

    3) As buyer, we ask for price from seller, When seller respond, one can just reply back whether keen or not keen to take up the offer. I can certain seller will appreciate an answer rather than interacting with a robot. A simple sentence like "Thank you and I will consider first." I have also know there are minority who say "I will get back to you" - will have difficulty following up. A simple answer to say no thank you is also good enough as well.:pretty-onion-head-emoticon:

    4) Realistic expectation on this price rate issue. Let say we know the amulet market value run about $500 meaning we see majority of seller putting this as price tag. If one can sell at least $500, I'm afraid that it is hard to get a seller to cut his/her meat to sell any one like $100? The reasoning is simple that imagine the buyer and seller role is reverse I doubt any one will want to incur lost or earn less for him/her self. Offering $100 can be a turn off and it just blow away this 1 chance to negotiate peacefully with seller. Cheap price can be too good to be true.:shooting-soldier-baby-emoticon:
    5) Buyer X bought amulet from seller X. Buyer bring amulet to seller Y and ask this real or not? Or ask for information on the amulet? Now most of us will wonder why never approach and ask seller X. Why buy from X if in doubt? I can say that seller Y,Z and whatever can choose not to answer since they do not sell the amulet to Buyer X.

    Why amulets price increase? It's because we buyers create a demand for them. If we are not chasing for the same design same amulet, then it will not cause the price value to go up and create any trade off value. Buying amulets experience should be a happy, fun and enjoyable. It should never make one suffer and stress over where to get money to get the amulets or end up with no money to support a family :bleeding-onion-head-emoticon:.

    I found this write out online this morning. This truly sum up the mindset about those who think whether amulets work or not.

    "
    有些善信在还没请佛牌之前,最大的纠结和疑惑就是佛牌到底能不能帮到自己?其实只要你自己诚心许愿,多做功德,抱着感恩的心,佛牌必定可以帮到你。可是如果你不做功德,也不诚心,对佛牌只有怀疑之心那么佛牌真的不适合你佩戴, 佛度有缘人。其实不止你在选择佛牌,佛牌也在选择你。心态最重要。[IMG]

    Do amulets work? How do we know they don't ? Are amulets really powerful as they swear by many to be? How to know real or not? At some point in our life, as collectors, buyers or sellers, newbies, experts this question will pop up in front of us to think deep on this. Thought of writing this post down as a sharing session since we notice from time to time this question keep on popping out.

    I myself once ask a seller this question "Is 1st Batch or the last batch amulet which is more powerful?". Seller smile and replied me "It doesn't matter which. All batches are powerful as long as they are genuine from master/temple." Then I also prompt this second question "How do you know which is the powerful amulet in your collection?". Seller replied "I don't, I just wear them daily as part of my life and I didn't think much about this. Just wear Lor." Seller is also wearing an amulet that has been given as a gift from master and rotate the amulet wearing like a fashion statement. Indeed the answers were simple, direct, meaningful and logical which most of us may already know them. That also made me realise the motto of "Just wear lor!" is good for any one to practice.

    One amulet seller X that I met never wear any amulets on the neck. I asked why so ? and the answer turn out that X has too many amulets and it became confusing for X decide what to wear. X explained that finding amulets is never a difficult task but rather it is question on how much is the amulet that X is willingly to pay to get. So what does X wear this days? The answer was palakit lor just put in pocket/pouch easier and more discreet and claim that it work for X's business. X also pray diligently to the Buddha statue in X's shop.

    Let's say a simple scenario like below.

    Person Y wear an amulet cross the road and got into an accident as a vehicle speed and bang on Y. Y suffered injuries but survived.

    Does that mean the amulet is not working which is Y got hit by a vehicle?

    Or does that mean the amulet is working and protect Y's life?

    It all depends on how we look at the above scenario. There's no right and no wrong answer but just different views that explain the above.
