Not a Super big difference . Cause a lot of people only see the cost of the wrapping gold but forgotten there is cost of flight plus hotel and transport . Unless u happen to go Bkk on holiday then is a different but still there is a cost incur for travel.

bad workmanship + extremely high price with limited selection.
i rather you send over the amulet to the gold shop and let them send it back to you after that. alternatively, if you got a day off, you can take an early flight to bangkok by airasia (don mueng) then take taxi to pantip.. wrap gold for the rian only take maximum 4hrs... after that still can go jalan jalan in pantip then take a night flight back to singapore. can be done within a day.

I've asked abt Thai gold price, especially at MBK.. The price of Thai gold (pendant etc) actually quite cheap. But since u r wrapping Amulets with "workmanship" involved, sometimes I think they give the "total" price a bit chop carrot.
Especially you can't speak Thai. That is from my experience though.

quite true.. considering 1 baht gold (15.16g) is only 21,000thb but the blood sucker gold shop can quote up to 30k thb for a 15.16g gold box and the purity is like 80% only and not the 95.6% thai gold grade

So I guess the best way is to go Thailand and find someone that can speak proper Thai to go with you. Haha

U r right. Those shops on Lvl 3 or Lvl 5/6 of MBK mostly target tourists for Thai gold amulet wrapping. Some ppl rather wrap 916, 18k or 22k. Cos those rates are similar internationally.
Instead those jewelry shops, selling pendant or necklace etc, c in other malls target both tourists and locals so the price is reasonable.

    Ya. It MAY help.

Or you may head to Yaowarat and get your amulet wrapped there. The prices are reasonable there.

normally those goldsmith shop @ mbk chop tourist one... i feel yaowarat is better.. at least the price they sell to you is the same as they sell to local thais... but i have seen the workmanship @ yaowarat goldsmith shop.. it is not really that good... u can notice the difference when you look at the side of the gold casing.. you will notice see how refined some gold box is compared to those with poor workmanship. i still feel pantip has the best price, best design n best range. but for custom gold box.. got to search for contact to get it done nicely.

Pantip price is not as cheap as people think. If u ask those Khun Thai they will tell u pantip is expensive . Like our fls . Most of the time u find cheap price is those 70% gold. Therefore those who don't don't how to speak Thai , at pantip also will kanna chop de . At mbk is more ex but the gold content mostly is 80% to 85%. If u want 90% gold is normally quite high price . U see those who tell u Thai gold casing cheap because is Low gold content , so those who make mostly don't know just see price cheap and do . Wrapping gold amulet casing can't use those normal gold price to see cause there is a hidden cost which is workmanship and normally cost higher than those gold Jewellery . That's y I say , the difference of wrapping gold here vs at Bkk not much difference . U need to compare Apple to Apple . If here u wrap 916 then compare Bkk 90% gold and not the price of 70% gold. Unless u speak good Thai and look like Khun Thai then maybe u can get what the real local price . If not u got connection . Other than that forget it , price not a big difference where u add flight , hotel and taxi . But FYI all my casing wrap in Bkk haha so after i do a compare with my experience . Same same

Plus pantip don't have all amulet size . Example I wanna wrap Lp Koon Kpl pidta , whole pantip will tell u need to custom made and need 1 to 2 weeks . So do u want take chances book flight fly there and empty handed back ? Plus living your amulet there and book another flight to collect . Haven't included your taxis to and fro to pantip and taxis to n fro from your house to airport . Go do calculation and u will know

If everything is so easy just to fly there , do and fly back in 1 day. Or just fly to temple rent amulet and come back . Singapore all amulet dealers can close shop Liao haha. Not only on amulet . All business the same . We are wont be employee but employer Liao haha
