I'd like to start a subject for discussion here -- thinking about this the other night:

If you receive a true barang, an amulet with a real spirit inside, like, for instance, some of bro GhostKing's very interesting things, wouldn't a person with a true compassionate Buddhist nature want to immediately free the spirit imprisoned inside?

I understand that some of these spirits have agreed to be bound to the amulet for a certain time by promises made to the spirit by the monk who made the amulet. But still, would a person with a real Buddhist heart want to continue the imprisonment of a spirit who is, after all, a fellow being?

I'm looking forward to an interesting discussion on this.
